The agreement on weights and dimensions, which has been reached between the European Parliament and Council in the framework of the Commission proposal, could see new safer, more energy efficient trucks on the market, with cabin modifications, as early as 2020.
The IRU welcomes this significant step forward from some initial proposals, as it will open new market opportunities and allow transport operators to achieve further reductions in fuel consumption and to cut their CO2 emissions, while allowing for improvements in road safety and drivers' comfort.
