An IRU delegation, led by IRU Secretary General, Umberto de Pretto, conducted a series of high-level discussions in Belarus with the Deputy Prime-Minister, Mr Anatoly Kalinin, the Minister of Transport and Communications, Mr Anatoly Sivak, the Deputy Chairman of State Customs Committee, Mr Vladimir Orlovsky, as well as both Deputy Ministers of Economy Mr AleksanderYaroshenko and Mr Dmitry Krutoy.
The geographical location of Belarus at the junction of two major economic integration zones (European Union and Eurasian Economic Union), as well as the increasing trade with China through its one belt one road initiative, highlighted the agenda covering cooperation in trade, transport and logistics.
A particular emphasis was placed on the situation in the international market of road transport services and prospects of its development in Asia and potential benefits resulting from the current geographical expansion of the TIR Convention in Asia, as well as the promotion of TIR risk management tools.
