Forwarders fear border controls

Every transport unit must be thoroughly inspected.

 

The Association of German Freight Forwarders and Logistics Operators (DSLV) has issued a warning about the consequences of reintroducing border controls in Europe, as they would significantly impede the free movement of goods. Such inspections would have incalculable financial consequences for the German economy, given the country's huge volume of foreign trade and its position in the centre of Europe.

 

The DSLV’s CEO, Frank Huster said European Commission statistics show that there are some 57 million international road transports in the European Union (EU) every year. The border controls, which many EU countries want to resume, pose headaches for forwarders, as every transport unit must be thoroughly inspected. Read more
