Business and government for smarter freight

Leipzig - At an IRU event during the International Transport Forum Summit exploring cooperation between industry and government to make freight transport and logistics greener and smarter, IRU President, Christian Labrot, reiterated IRU’s voluntary commitment to reduce road freight transport’s carbon footprint as part of the implementation of the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals. The event was co-organised with Smart Freight Centre, FIATA (global freight forwarders association), CLECAT (European freight forwarders association) and ESC (European Shippers Council).

Mr Labrot stressed that carbon reduction can best be achieved through close cooperation, not only with industry partners such as vehicle & component manufacturers or fuel producers but also with governments and international institutions such as the UN, ITF and EU. Read more
