Swiss freight railway develops innovative train

Some 16 of these innovative wagons are slated for use in a four year trial from mid-2017.

 

The Swiss railfreight service provider SBB Cargo is implementing various projects to boost automation. The conversion of the first “railcar of the future” is currently taking place.

 

Some 16 of these innovative wagons are slated for use in a four year trial from mid-2017. SBB Cargo said the trains will emit less noise and will be lighter than the ones on the rails at present.

 

The new container platforms are fitted with innovative components, including bogies that can be radially adjusted, disc brakes and automatic couplings. Read more
