Growth was driven in part by HGVs
More goods than ever before were transported in Germany in 2016. Provisional figures compiled by the federal statistics office (Destatis) show that the increase in transported freight rose to 4.6 billion t, 1.1% more than in 2015.
Growth was driven in part by HGVs, enabling the road haulage sector to collar a bigger share of the country’s freight traffic. Trucks hauled 3.6 billion t of goods in 2016, an increase of 1.5% vis-à-vis 2015. Read more
