Air cargo volumes at Europe’s airports grew by 5.5% in April this year vis-à-vis April 2015, making it the best result since May 2014, according to the airports association ACI Europe. Satisfaction was tempered, however, by reference to the relative fragility of this success.
The traffic lights are set to green at most gateways, but Istanbul Atatürk and BRU (38,370 t, –1.9%), for example, both lost volumes in the wake of terrorist attacks. LGG was also under shock, whilst the Belgian hub in Ostend was able to double its volumes (3,504 t). Read more
