Russia will invest RUB 7.7 trillion (EUR 0.111 trillion) in the development of rail transport by 2025, said the head of Russian Railways (RZD), Oleg Belozerov, at the III Railway Congress in Moscow.
The aim is to install a rail network in regions which have so far never had a railway. In the first instance, this applies to the Northern Latitudinal Railway, one of Russia's largest construction projects in the Arctic. In addition, a transport link to the island of Sakhalin will be the logical extension of the ongoing modernisation of the railway system in Russia’s Far Eastern region. Read more
