Danske Bank (DB) regularly conducts a survey to gauge European freight forwarders’ prevailing business mood. DB analysts also seek to ascertain how cargo volumes developed over the preceding two months, and what the respondents believe the next few months will hold for their firms.
The overall index for current volumes came in at 53 in November (October: 60). Expectation figures suggest a decrease in volumes in the coming two months, as the January result came in at 52 (January 2017: 53).
The road index of 60 indicates an increase in volumes compared with two months ago. Expectations for road came in at 54. The seafreight index of 37 indicates a decrease in volumes compared with two months ago. Expectations for seafreight came in at 45, which suggest significantly lower volumes in the coming two months.
