Wage dumping dispute in Ticino

The canton of Ticino in the Italian-speaking part of Switzerland wants to introduce a statutory minimum wage. The plan will have a major impact on transport and logistics companies, as such enterprises in Ticino employ a large number of foreign workers from Italy and sometimes pay very low wages.

 

Numerous transport and logistics companies recently introduced a collective labour contract (CLC). However, Ticino television RSI broadcast a programme showing that wage dumping in the logistics sector still exists and that some companies pay less than CHF 3,000 gross per month. Read more
