UIRR: 2017 a robust year for intermodal transport

The 2017 intermodal performance statistics collected by the International Union for Road-Rail Combined Transport (UIRR) from 37 members across 17 European countries, reflect a robust performance in terms of consignment numbers carried by intermodal transport services.

Almost 3.2 million full truckloads (or 6. million teu) were conveyed in the year under review, 5.5% more than in 2016. Growth was even more pronounced when measured in tonne-kilometres: the 2017 performance in those terms exceeded that of 2016 by 8.7%. Read more
