Major container shipping company turns to rail with METRAN

Ocean Network Express (ONE) will start using METRANS trains to transport containers between European ports and the hinterland. ONE is the sixth largest container shipping company in the world. Its shift to rail transportation for continental services indicates that rail freight cannot be avoided when trying to meet environmental goals.

METRANS will transport ONE’s containers between central Europe and the ports of Hamburg and Bremerhaven in Germany and Koper in Slovenia. The partnership is very well targeted since ONE aims to benefit from METRANS’ CO2 neutral certification.
