Free zones offer a unique opportunity to strengthen government-business collaboration and help mitigate trade security and road safety risks.
At the World Free Zones Organization’s annual International Conference & Exhibition in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates, IRU briefed a large audience of business leaders and key decision makers on proven tools to overcome safety and security challenges.
Asli Çalik, IRU Vice President and Head of Transport and Logistic Solution Department of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB), said, “Working in the true spirit of public-private partnership with the United Nations, IRU is committed to strengthening the trusted collaboration between governments and the private sector to help mitigate the risks related to trade security and road safety.”
“For over seven decades, the trust that IRU has built throughout its collaboration with customs authorities has brought enormous benefits to both the public and private sector. For example, the TIR system allows free zone operators to benefit from faster, simpler and more secure trade,” she added.
“Adopting internationally recognised instruments, such as TIR and RoadMasters, is key to attracting trusted operators to free zones, increasing security, boosting economies, and enhancing bilateral and intraregional trade,” concluded Asli Çalik. Read more
