Stepping up rail network efficiency

SNCF Réseau, the state-owned operator the French rail network, is to introduce Hacon’s train planning system (TPS). As early as 2009, the French infrastructure operator began to use software from the Hanover (Germany)-based company Hacon to carry out planning analyses of its network capacities.

The introduction of TPS should raise the efficiency of the French rail network, as well as modernise train timetables and track management. The investment will also help to substantially step up the utilisation rate of the French railway infrastructure that currently amounts to 6.3 million tracks per year.
