China Customs prepares for TIR

Since China’s ratification of the United Nations TIR Convention in July 2016, it has begun gearing up for TIR implementation. China Customs hosted a workshop on TIR in Beijing today, supporting the roll-out of the system and China’s broader harmonisation with international transport standards and regulations.

 

IRU experts delivered presentations on TIR System procedures and highlighted the benefits for China and neighbouring countries, including making border crossings faster, more secure and efficient, reducing transport costs and boosting trade and development. The advantages of intermodal transport, which will open new trade corridors, were also discussed during the meetings. Read more
