IRU welcomes a delegation from Indian customs and the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) to its Geneva office, to establish a road map for TIR implementation.
The aim is to facilitate TIR becoming operational in India as swiftly as possible, with plans in place for further outreach and technical instruction from IRU over the coming months.
During discussions on next steps, India’s Central Board of Excise and Customs will brief IRU on the current situation in India on trade, transport and transit, giving their perspective on the impact of TIR.
IRU will present an outline of TIR procedures and information on management of TIR carnets, and will discuss the required actions by all relevant stakeholders including training and capacity building to make TIR operational in India by the end of this year. Read more
