Beware - Along with Christmas and brexit another unavoidable event approaches.

UK – For private motorists and commercial vehicle drivers in London alike, as with Christmas and Brexit the introduction of the Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) is rapidly approaching. To remind drivers of vans, cars and lorries of their upcoming responsibilities Transport for London (TfL) has issued a Guide to the new regulations which come into force from 8 April 2019 (it was to be a week earlier but that was ditched for obvious reasons). Road haulage operators are warned to ensure they are familiar with the details.

Anyone driving a vehicle powered by any form of fossil fuel will be subject to the appropriate charge for their conveyance 24/7 on every day of the year. Compliance will be based on engine type according to the European Emission Standard Classifications and the Guide can be read in full HERE.

Vehicle compliance can be checked HERE and to precis the vehicle types complying with the ULEZ standards, which vary with both vehicle and fuel types, the main categories are:

- Euro 3 for motorcycles, mopeds, motorised tricycles and quadricycles

- Euro 4 for petrol cars, vans, minibuses, and other specialist vehicles

- Euro 6 for diesel cars, vans, minibuses, and other specialist vehicles

- Euro VI for lorries, buses, coaches, and other specialist heavy vehicles. Read more
