Pirate attacks on merchant ships continue to rise, according to figures from the most recent edition of the quarterly report of the International Maritime Bureau (IMB) of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC).
In particular, the number of kidnappings in the Gulf of Guinea during the first nine months of this year increased by 40% compared to the same period in 2019.
This report includes a total of 132 incidents of piracy and armed robbery from January to September 2020, compared to 119 registered in the same period last year. Read more
