A Kögel highlight at Transpotec Logitec 2019 is the Kögel Cargo with a FlexiUse body and RoRo equipment. This standard platform trailer with sliding tarpaulin has of course also undergone the NOVUM generation upgrade. The optimised external frame profile and the improved body not only make the Kögel Cargo even more robust, but also simplify handling in daily use. In addition, the NOVUM generation Cargo scores with a very high degree of customisation and can thus be adapted to the specific requirements of forwarding companies.
The NOVUM generation Kögel Cargo
In addition to the well-known advantages of the NOVUM generation – such as the new air and lighting console on the front wall, which transfers the forces into the frame via the side members, the new external frame profile, which greatly increases the accessibility of the VarioFix lashing points, and the variable lattice pockets – Kögel Cargo has extensive standard equipment. For optimal load-securing, the VarioFix perforated steel external frame is equipped with 13 pairs of lashing shackles, with each shackle affording 2,500 kilogrammes of tensile force. Fitted with standard Kögel KTA trailer axles, the Cargo trailers feature axle units characterised by easy maintenance, excellent tracking and reliability. The unique “double suspension” of the KTA, made from a soft rubber bearing and a spring steel wishbone, not only enhances the driving characteristics of the trailer but also reduces tyre wear. Naturally, the NOVUM generation Kögel Cargo has the EN 12642 Code XL load-securing certificate.
Individual equipment on the trade show exhibit
This exhibit also shows the trademark variable body from the Kögel FlexiUse. The FlexiUse body includes eight front settings, each adjustable by 25 mm, and four rear settings, each adjustable by 50 mm, so the body heights can be independently adjusted by 200 mm at the front and rear. This allows everyday goods transport with a clear internal height of 2,800–3,000 mm at the front and rear. The Kögel Cargo can be fitted with heavy-duty RoRo equipment for unaccompanied ship and ferry transport. This includes a diagonal reinforcement between the side members and external frame, a 10 mm closed sliding plate, a 10 mm fifth-wheel plate, two suction valves and four pairs of heavy-duty lashing rings with 12,000 kg of test force. Mechanically reinforced semi-trailer supports in a ferry design with rollers completes the RoRo equipment. A 720 millimetre long transition plate, made of steel chequer plate, is mounted above the rear end beam for additional protection. The inside of the front wall features a two-millimetre-thick and 1,250-millimetre-high galvanised steel plate to protect the front wall against damage during daily use. For enhanced impact protection, the rear of the vehicle is equipped with one pair of protective rubber rollers. A transverse Delta rubber bumper, mounted on the frame closing plate, and locking cam protection complete the trailer's impact protection. To improve road safety and prevent turning accidents, this lightweight trailer is equipped with optional flashing side marker lights. Further individual equipment includes screw-on pallet limiting rails on both sides, two large toolboxes, aluminium rims, an axle lift, a tyre pressure monitoring system, a steel light holder, Kögel LUXIMA multi-chamber rear lights, and much more.
Wide range of variants and customised equipment
The NOVUM generation Kögel Cargo is available in other variants and of course with a wide range of customised equipment. These include, for example, various load-securing packages, RoRo equipment, drop sides, TIR equipment, rail design, coil trough, a reinforced frame neck and much more.
Cathodic dip-paint coating: lasting protection from corrosion
In the Kögel Cargo, the entire vehicle frame is given long-lasting protection from corrosion by nano ceramic and cathodic dip-paint coating, supplemented with UV painting.
