Green light for the Gotthard Tunnel

Closed for five days, the Gotthard road tunnel in Switzerland reopened on Friday evening, 15 September 2023.

Stress redistributions in the mountain had led to a shift or crack in the intermediate ceiling near the north portal, so that concrete parts fell onto the carriageway and the tunnel had to be closed. Read more
