6th Market Place Seminar

The International Federation of Freight Forwarders, FIATA, and the International Union of Railways, UIC, are jointly organising the 6th Market Place Seminar in Trieste, Italy from 2-3 April 2014. The Market Place Seminar aims to create opportunities for increased cooperation and business development within the rail sector by offering a common platform for railway undertakings, freight forwarders, and customers.

The previous editions themes focused on: Rail Transport in Eastern Europe in Prague, French-Iberian Rail Link in Barcelona, Rail Transport connecting South Eastern Europe and the Middle-East in Istanbul, Challenges of Intermodal Hinterland Traffic in Hamburg, and Intercontinental corridors – New opportunities for Rail Freight? in Vienna.

The overall topic of this event is:

"Strategic interchange between sea and rail freight: what’s new?"

Following significant topics will be discussed:

Trends and developments when connecting sea and rail modes;
New Central European Projects and innovative loading technologies;
Rail connectivity between hinterland and ports: Corridors;
Best practice in rail shunting and IT terminal technologies

A large number of high level speakers have confirmed their participation, such as: Dr. Alberto Grisone, Director Network Development at Hupac Chiasso; Mr Alessandro Ricci, President of Interporto Bologna; Mr Ivan Liptuga, Vice President of Plaske, Odessa; among others. The event will be concluded with a technical visit to the Port of Trieste.
