Doubling of Silk Road trains from Eastern-Chinese province

The Chinese province of Anhui saw a doubling of freight trains departing in the direction Europe in 2019. 368 China-Europe freight trains were operated last year, an increase of 102.2 per cent compared with 2018. This was reported by the customs authorities of Hefei, the capital of the eastern province.

 

The trains carried a an estimated total of 17,208 standard containers with a value adding up to about 1.42 billion U.S. dollars. The number of containers carried carried by rail on the Eurasian corridor thus saw a doubling as well, with a surge of 102.6 per cent.
