Austria's logistics sector says take the pressure off

There is concern in Austria that the country is continuing to lose ground as a logistics location. On top of tough economic conditions, the logistics industry is having to face a loss of importance in international location rankings, such as the logistics performance index (LPI).

 

Josefine Deiser, chairperson of the forwarding and logistics group of experts at the Upper Austria chamber of commerce and industry, said, "there is an urgent need to relieve the pressure." She criticised increasing taxes and duties, as well as the possible introduction of a nationwide road toll, a levy that would have a negative effect on more than just the transport and logistics industry. Read more
