Klaus-Michael Kühne would like London to remain part of the EU.
A group of former captains of industry has called for the United Kingdom to remain in the EU. They have suggested that one alternative could be to make extensive concessions to the Britons. Klaus-Michael Kühne supported the appeal.
British negotiators have been haggling over the detailed implementation of the Brexit with representatives of the EU in Brussels for many months now. Companies at home, including many from the logistics sector, expect to meet with serious consequences as a result of the divorce, but so far the basic decision has largely been considered irrevocable.
A group of German industrialists sees things a bit differently, however. At the end of November they launched an appeal, entitled ‘Exit from the Brexit’, which aims to avert the United Kingdom’s resignation from the EU. They believe that the Britons underestimated the impact of their decision. The EU should now negotiate a solution with the UK and launch a ‘new deal for Britain’ that enables it to remain in the union, with a greater degree of autonomy. Read more
