Charity ride for BBC children in need appeal.

UK – A team from logistics provider GEFCO UK is raising money for BBC Children in Need by cycling 300 miles from the company's UK headquarters in Coventry to the Corporate headquarters in Courbevoie near Paris, France. The group of 52 cyclists made up of employees from all parts of the freight company will take part in the four-day challenge starting September 7 and will be accompanied by eight support vehicles along a route that includes stops at Blenheim Palace and Chris Evans' The Mulberry Inn, in Sussex.

GEFCO, which operates a global multimodal network specialising in automotive logistics, is working with trainers from Freestyle 360 who are assisting the cyclists by planning the route, providing training programmes, and accompanying the team throughout the challenge. Tim Spittle, Founder, Freestyle 360, said:

“Freestyle 360 has an established relationship with GEFCO, which has resulted in many great opportunities for both of our organisations. We are excited to share our expertise with the participants in the build-up to the challenge, which is going to raise much-needed funds for a very worthwhile charity.”

The team will cycle from Coventry to Reading on September 7th, then from Reading to Newhaven on day two, before crossing the Channel by ferry and continuing to Rouen in northern France on day three. They will complete the final push from Rouen to Courbevoie on 11th September, and travel back to the UK on 12th September. Helen Grover, Director of Human Resources, GEFCO UK, commented:

“Our team of cyclists are currently training hard for the Coventry to Paris cycle ride and we are confident they will complete the challenge in good time while raising money for BBC Children in Need. Every year, GEFCO conducts charity work and team building exercises to foster inclusion throughout the company and raising money for BBC Children in Need is the perfect way for our staff to combine both activities while taking part in a meaningful experience.
