The number of LNG trucks registered in Europe also grew from 5,054 to 9,563 in 2019.
Trucks powered by CNG (compressed natural gas) or LNG (liquefied natural gas) emit up to 15% less CO2 than Euro 6 diesel trucks. With biogas, they are almost climate-neutral.
Overall, 14,191 CNG trucks were deployed in the EU and the EFTA states of Iceland, Norway and Switzerland last year. This is above 20% more than in 2018, and almost double the figure of 2015, according to the most recent statistics published by the European "natural & biogas vehicle association" (NGVA Europe).
By the end of 2019, 150 CNG trucks were registered in Switzerland (+15.4% compared to 2018), and in France there were even 5,100 CNG trucks (+30%). Read more
