IRU has participated in two panel discussions at the annual meeting of FIATA.
This year’s FIATA HQ meeting took place from 17 to 19 May 2022 in Geneva, under the title “Reconnect”.
IRU’s President of the Goods Transport Council Asli Calik spoke at the “Practical Actions to improve Safety and Security in the Supply Chain” session. After presenting the standards on the transport of dangerous goods by road (ADR), she detailed IRU’s training programmes on this UN agreement.
Asli Calik insisted on IRU’s activities to establish safe and secure parking areas for road transport, and on the importance of applying suitable insurance policies to secure the international transport of goods.
Kazem Asayesh, Senior Adviser on TIR and transit, presented the impacts of the Covid-19 and the war in Ukraine on road transport to the panel titled “2022: The Year of All Dangers – Impacts for Global Supply Chains?”.
Kazem Asayesh highlighted the challenges raised by the rising fuel prices for the road transport industry as well as the IRU’s recent emergency resolution on the topic. Read more
