The Swiss parliament has created new tools – namely a network utilisation scheme (NUS) and network utilisation plans (NUP) – to ensure that railways have the right to use the rail network (track access). The tools are designed to prevent freight traffic from being overlooked when stepping up passenger services.
The country’s federal office of transport (FoT) said that most of the potential track access conflicts were resolved during the track allocation procedure for the next few years. Read more
